Cody McCloud serves as principal for The Fiorentino Group, and is based in the firm’s Tallahassee office. Cody brings to TFG a wealth of expertise in communications, media relations, political campaigns, and legislative affairs. With his extensive knowledge of state government, developed over years of service working inside Florida’s executive branch, Cody successfully guides TFG clients through a wide range of state policy and appropriations matters, as well as political issues.

Cody joined TFG after serving as Political Director for the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), where he was the primary liaison between the Party and the statewide campaigns of Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson throughout the 2022 campaign cycle. While at RPOF, Cody gained extensive experience in political operations, fundraising efforts, campaign finance, and event management and logistics.

Prior to his role with the Party, Cody held several key positions in the administration of Governor Ron DeSantis, including Director of Legislative Affairs at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). During his time at DBPR, Cody managed the agency’s legislative priorities and worked closely with leaders, members and staff in both chambers of the Florida Legislature.

Before joining DBPR, Cody was Press Secretary to Governor DeSantis, serving as an on the record spokesman and traveling with the Governor throughout his first two and a half years in office. During this time, Cody was responsible for developing messaging strategies and addressing complex policy issues to ensure the Governor’s priorities were communicated and implemented in an efficient and effective manner.

Cody is a graduate of Florida State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. After graduation, he began his career as a Session Intern at TFG. Cody was recently named a 2023 Rising Star in Florida Politics by Influence Magazine and is an avid golfer and member of Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
